There’s a new chapter in the ongoing debate over the reverse lanes in Phoenix, often known as “suicide lanes” by people who oppose them.
A group of central Phoenix residents along Seventh Avenue and Seventh Street have launched a petition drive to get rid of the reverse lanes on those streets.
Champion says the lanes are being abused by speeders and causes confusion for new drivers to the area. She is now ramping up grassroots effort to bring a petition to remove the reverse lanes.
Community advocates and local businesses last week launched an online petition they hope will put pressure on the city of Phoenix to abolish the controversial reverse lanes on Seventh Avenue and Seventh Street.
Residents in Phoenix are petitioning the city to end the rush hour reverse lanes, also called suicide lanes, on Seventh Avenue and Seventh Street north of downtown.
